Data Analysis & Reporting
Data analysis and reporting can overlap with technical writing. This section focuses more on the actual data analysis and presenting those immediate results.

Our general process is collaborative where we discuss your needs, your goals, how the data will be used, etc. up front. We also have multiple touch points to ensure communication is open and fluid.

We offer four primary types of data analysis:

Descriptive data analysis include pattern recognition and identification of trends and/or relationships. Some common examples include sales/revenue analysis, social media engagement analysis, demographic analysis, etc.

The reporting of descriptive analysis usually includes some form of visualization such as graphs, tables, mapping, etc. It can also come with a very brief narrative closer to a white paper than a formal report. Â

Diagnostic data analysis seeks to identify the root cause or the why something unanticipated is happening. This usually includes a deeper dive into exploring patterns. Some common examples include a singular dip in revenue or sales. Another example may be a sudden increase in car crashes. The results are reported using both a narrative and visualization (e.g. graphs, maps, tables, etc.). The report is generally comparable to a brief white paper since the focus is usually targeted to one or two anomalies.

Predictive data analysis results in a forecasted outcome based on the data being studied. Some examples may be to forecast what your customers may want to purchase next, implement dynamic pricing, forecast performance measures for the remainder of the year, forecast maintenance and replacement equipment budgets, forecast population growth, etc. The results are presented in a brief report explaining the results and recommendations in plain English with visualizations (e.g. graphs, tables, mapping, etc.) embedded. Â

Prescriptive data analysis is similar to predictive analysis but takes it to the next step. The goal is to recommend specific, actionable "prescriptive" steps that you can implement to achieve improvements. Some examples would be supply chain optimization, dynamic pricing or parking, marketing optimization, etc. The results are documented in a formal technical report written in plain English for easy decision-making with technical details and visualizations embedded.Â
